EcoIBC USA
♻ Reduce · Reuse · Recirculate

The circular home of the IBC tote.

We buy, sell, recondition, and haul used & new IBC totes across all 50 states. Every reused 275 or 330 gallon tote keeps roughly 100 lbs of HDPE and steel in service and out of the landfill. That's not a side effect — it's the whole point.

The Impact Ledger

Reuse is the highest form of recycling.

Manufacturing a brand-new composite IBC burns energy, virgin plastic, and steel. Reusing one that already exists skips almost all of it. Here's what our circular loop has kept moving.

Why Used Wins

A used tote isn't second best. It's second life.

A composite IBC is built to be reused for years. The cage is galvanized steel; the bottle is thick HDPE rated for thousands of cycles. When a tote gets tossed after one use, all of that engineering — and all of that embodied carbon — gets buried.

Reconditioning uses a fraction of the energy of new manufacturing. You get a container that performs like new, at a lower price, with a dramatically smaller footprint. Better for your budget, better for the planet. There's no trade-off to make.

  • Up to 60% lower cost
  • ~90% less embodied energy vs. new
  • Same UN / DOT ratings available

How It Works

From your yard to its next life, in five steps.

Whether you're buying or selling, the loop moves the same way. No mystery, no runaround — just a clear path from "I have totes" or "I need totes" to a truck at your dock.

01

Tell us what you have

Send quantity, prior contents, condition, and your ZIP code through the one form at the top of this page.

02

We quote in a day

Our desk prices your buy or sell within one business day — grade, freight, and all-in numbers, nothing hidden.

03

We schedule freight

Palletized LTL or full truckload, inbound or outbound, to any ZIP in the lower 48. Reverse logistics included.

04

Wash, test, regrade

Incoming empties are triple-washed, pressure-tested, and honestly graded — food-grade totes get certified separately.

05

Back in service

Your reconditioned totes ship out to their next life. Every loop kept turning is ~100 lbs kept out of the ground.

The Long Version

Why a reused tote is the smarter buy — not the compromise.

A composite intermediate bulk container is one of the most over-built objects in ordinary industry. The bottle is blow-molded from thick high-density polyethylene and rated for thousands of pressurized cycles. The cage is welded, galvanized steel. The pallet base is engineered to take a fully loaded forklift. All of that material and embodied energy is spent to make a container that could serve for a decade — and yet the single-use habit buries most of them after one fill.

The engineering doesn't wear out in one trip

When a tote is retired after a single use, none of that engineering is recovered. Reconditioning changes that. Washing, pressure-testing, and — where needed — re-bottling an existing tote uses on the order of 90% less energy than manufacturing a new one, and the result meets the same UN / DOT ratings. So the reused tote isn't the discount option that quietly costs you performance; it's the same specification at a lower price and a fraction of the footprint.

The three savings that stack

  • Budget: reconditioned totes run up to ~60% below new.
  • Carbon: you avoid the far larger footprint of building a replacement.
  • Speed: graded stock is on the shelf, not on a manufacturing lead time.
The greenest tote is almost always the one that already exists. Our entire job is to make that tote the easy, obvious, cheaper choice.

Inside The Wash Line

What "reconditioned" actually means here.

"Reconditioned" gets thrown around loosely in this industry. When we say it, we mean a documented sequence — not a rinse and a repaint. Every tote is graded honestly against the state it's actually in, so the grade on the invoice is the grade in your yard.

  1. Intake & sort — prior contents logged, cages and bottles inspected.
  2. Triple wash — hot water and detergent, inside and out.
  3. Pressure test — the bottle is checked for leaks and integrity.
  4. Re-bottle / re-cage — worn parts swapped, not landfilled whole.
  5. Grade & document — honest A / B / C grade, food-grade certified separately.
  6. Stage & ship — palletized and routed to its next owner.
In Their Words

What the yards, farms & blenders tell us.

We were paying a hauler to landfill empties. EcoIBC pays us for the same totes and picks them up on a route. It flipped a cost into a line item that makes money.

Operations lead, chemical blender — Gulf Coast

Ordered a truckload of reconditioned 275s for our irrigation setup. Graded exactly as described, valves all worked, half the price of new. No surprises.

Owner, produce farm — Central Valley, CA

The food-grade certification paperwork was the reason we switched suppliers. They segregate the wash line and document it — that matters for our audits.

Quality manager, co-packer — Midwest

Representative of the feedback we hear; individual results vary by grade, product, and lane.

Industries, In Depth

The same tote, put to work a dozen ways.

Agriculture & farms

Bulk water storage, drip and irrigation feed, liquid fertilizer and nutrient dosing. Reused totes make on-farm water reuse affordable at scale.

Food & beverage

Food-grade totes for juices, syrups, oils, and concentrates — previously food-only, washed, and certified for edible and potable use.

Breweries & wineries

Wort, must, cleaning chemistry, and wastewater capture. A cheap, sanitizable 275 or 330 is the workhorse of a small production floor.

Chemical blending

Compatible-resin totes for detergents, coolants, and industrial fluids — with UN / DOT-rated stock where the product demands it.

Municipal & emergency

Potable water caching, flood and fire response, and temporary supply. Reused totes are the backbone of low-cost water resilience.

Landscaping & car wash

Soaps, waxes, mulch tea, and reclaim water. High-turnover operations where reused totes keep equipment budgets lean.

Not listed? We've likely supplied it. Tell us your application and we'll spec the right tote and grade.

Eco Impact

Reuse is measurable. So we measure it.

~100 lbs

HDPE & steel kept in service per reused tote

Every tote that gets a second life is roughly 100 lbs of engineered material that doesn't sit inert in a landfill for centuries — and doesn't have to be manufactured again from virgin resin and steel.

~90%

Less energy than building a new composite IBC

Washing and testing an existing tote skips the blow-molding, the new steel, and the new pallet. The math is on our sustainability page — assumptions and all.

Common Questions

Straight answers before you send the form.

Do you really buy used totes, or just sell them?
Both — that's the whole loop. We buy used IBC totes by the pallet or truckload nationwide and pay cash. Send quantity, prior contents, and your ZIP and we'll quote pickup within one business day. See how we buy.
How much does a reconditioned tote cost?
Reconditioned 275 and 330 gallon totes typically run about $75–$180 depending on grade, prior contents, quantity, and delivery distance. Request a quote for live pricing on your lane.
Are your totes food-safe?
Food-grade stock is available. These previously held only food-safe products and are washed and certified on a segregated line. Ask for food-grade specifically when you request a quote.
Do you ship to my state?
Yes — we buy, sell, and haul to any ZIP in all 50 states through our LTL and full-truckload freight network. See transport & logistics.
What's the difference between a 275 and a 330?
Same 48 x 40 in footprint; the 330 is taller (~53 in vs ~46 in) and heavier when full. Full comparison in our sizes & specs guide and the 275 vs 330 article.
